Where is Raigad?

Raigad is a one of the districts in Maharashtra Konkan division. It is located in south western side of Maharashtra State. 

Raigad Fort

Raigad is hill fort situated in Mahad which is in Raigad district of Maharashtra, India.  This Fort is known for one of the fortresses on the Deccan Plateau. Raigad is a historical fort and was the capital of the Maratha Empire where the great Maratha Warrior Shivaji Maharaj had a coronation ceremony in 1674. 


How to reach Raigad Fort?

From Mumbai you can reach Raigad Fort by train or by road. The nearest railway station is Mangaon but if possible, try for the road way only as it takes you through some extremely scenic views.

By road it takes at-least 4 hours or more depending upon weather and road conditions to reach this place.

There is Ropeway option also available if you are not a very much fan or trekking.


Best Time for Visit

If you want to enjoy greenery and waterfalls then the ideal time to visit the Raigad Fort is during July to October. The monsoon mesmerizing scenery provides you with panoramic views of the grand Sahyadri Ranges. Otherwise, you can visit here in winter also during November to February the weather remains very pleasant as sun is not harsh here during these days.
