Manikaran Gurudwara

Manikaran is located in the Parvati Valley on river Parvati, northeast of Bhuntar in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh. It is at an altitude of 1760 m and is located 4 km ahead of Kasol and about 45 km from Kullu and about 35 km from Bhunter. This small town attracts tourists visiting Manali and Kullu to its hot springs and pilgrim centers. An experimental geothermal energy plant has also been set up here.

The aforementioned hot spring is claimed by residents of the village (with some pride) to have curative powers and is so hot that rice can be cooked in it! Also in town are shrines dedicated to Krishna, Rama and Vishnu.

Manikaran Sahib is a vital pilgrimage spot for both Hindus and Sikhs. This place has significance in some of the earliest Hindu scriptures that highlight how Manu, the first human on earth, created life and saved this place from a flood. Several mythological tales around the region also document Hindu deities like Shiva, Parvati, and Vishnu.

If you are in Manikaran, you must spend some time learning about the origin and history of the Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara. Different tales narrated in Sikh scriptures recount plenty about the place’s history. While here, you can witness those stories come to life right in front of your eyes.
